If the idea of burning 300 to 400 calories at a time sounds a little daunting to you, then maybe it is time to divide and conquer. Research shows that breaking up your workouts into very short segments throughout the day is almost as effective as one 30 to 45 minute segment. Here are 10 ways you can blast 100 excess calories out of your system in no time at all.

Flash Dance: Release your inner dance diva with a group of friends. Twenty minutes of dancing at a moderate "boogie" will burn 100 calories.

Go Nowhere Fast: Jog in place for 12 minutes, and you can burn as many as 100 calories or more.

Pump Iron: Allow 15 minutes of intense weight training to burn approximately 100 calories. And the good news is that your tuned up muscles will keep burning more calories even after your workout.

Bike: Bike at 12-14 mph for just more than 10 minutes, and you can burn 100 calories.

Go virtual: Take a break from your desk and play one of the many virtual sports or exercise games, such as Kinect Sports: Calorie Challenge for Xbox Live ($4; Xbox.com) where you will go head-to-head, with activities such as boxing or running, against a menacing virtual treat like the Super Soda avatar and burn off that item's calories. (100-plus for the soda!)

Walk: Take a walk after dinner, or walk to run an errand you would normally drive to. You will burn 100 calories in about 15 minutes.

Trampoline: Bounce your way to fitness. Twenty-seven minutes burns 100 calories and tones your legs, butt, and abs at the same time.

Wax on, wax off: - Twenty minutes of waxing and washing your car will burn more than 100 calories. Don't forget the sunscreen!

Shop ‘Til You Drop: Go shopping at the mall and you may burn through more than 100 calories in 41 minutes. Maybe you should leave the credit cards at home if you only want to burn calories ...

Indulge Your Green Thumb: Bring out your inner gardener, and dig, rake, plant, and weed. You can burn up to 100 calories in 15 minutes or so, especially by digging and raking.
