My husband and I tried for many years to conceive a child. After several rounds of infertility treatments my OB didn't know why we weren't expecting yet. Then the dreaded talk of "maybe you should lose some weight". I knew I was overweight but I had no other health issues. Could that really be the key to getting pregnant? After struggling a few years to have a baby I finally decided to take control of my life and have weight loss surgery.
I tried several diets and lost a few pounds but it always came back and more. I felt that lap band surgery was my last chance to have the family I always prayed for. I was banded in April 2004, at that time I wore a size 20 jean. I followed direction and also found support groups to be very helpful. Within a few months I had lost so much weight I could buy a size 6. My husband and I adopted a child. Luke was 7 months old when I found out I was pregnant with our second child. We were so thrilled!!!
Fast forward to today I am a happy stay-at-home mother of 4!! Yes, 4 children (2 adopted & 2 biological)!! If it weren't for lap band surgery at Northwest Weight Loss Surgery I wouldn't have been the mother I am today. Not only was I blessed with 4 children but the energy to keep up with them. Two pregnancies and almost 8 years later I maintain a healthy weight of 130 pounds (size 4/6 jean). I love being able to wear the clothes I want to (even from the juniors department) and look good ("one hot Momma" as my husband says). I am a blessed woman!!!
